This is what made Tom Waits so good. You think it's going to be funny, and it ends up being profound. He made light of his struggles, but they allowed him to write songs like this with such brutal honesty.
Remember seeing this when first broadcast, FAB. Seem to recall having hair then
Yeah mtv2... Coming home late at night in the 90s... Matt pin field and 120 min
I’ve listened to Tom for years. We got to see him in concert in 1980. He is the best!!
It's not just me right? ....thought I misheard it the first time, but Liz really sang "DEATH is a doing word" ---instead of "love" --which is incredibly sad imo esp. knowing who she wrote this for </3
🌎🪐🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Beautifully sung but she is so close to the Mike and sings so quietly I can make out what she is singing... but apart from that I have always loved this and her work with the Cocteau twins
The Bear S3E4 brought we here. Doing a Cocteu Twin's deep dive following pearly dewdrop. Liz Fraser's vocals are beautiful. Can't believe they're from Grangemouth.

Who here from serial pruson break
One of his masterpieces without a doubt
this is music about broken people for broken people
@dd me. Mónica.
What a Great Song ❤❤❤❤
Nervous laughter, give them a break.
And to think that Madonna wanted to do the vocals... her cartoon voice would have totally ruined it. Elizabeth Fraser's otherworldly voice was and is the only perfect vocal for it.
Gives me the chills. Remember the UFO sightings by the Belgian Air Force in the late 80's? I think 242 scared them off
старый добрый mtv😢
I am so happy she and Jeff Buckley were once an item. Perfect match. RIP Jeff😢 Liz is amazing
❤
They say punk rock is the purest form of art in music. Don’t get me wrong, I love punk rock, but this is every bit as pure, in the artistic sense, as any punk rock song.
Creative Computer Systems : zum Schein ! Thomas ist ein Mann !
What a special unique brilliant performance. 🤌
💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💯💯💯💯💯
Why does he keep repeating the word lies?
I'm thankful I got to see him in 2012 perform
For me.. Thus is a beautiful piece... Master class..... One of my multitude top 5... ❤❤❤😂❤
This was recorded right after Jeff Buckley’s passing.
What is the bandage for?
I think this song was a message for those woman who wrong doingly killed there baby by abortion!
❤
... And somebody stole my record player every Saturday night. ... (With all that credit.) Cause everybody loves looney tunes. Wish i owed it all. "Every...,." All is lost, and all is lies.,... (..."For cars sake".)
Massive Attack seemed like a collective of talented perfectionist, musicians with a few core members. Much like Steely Dan.
This is close to the napster bootleg live version I heard. It was the version that introduced me to Jack White. In that version you could hear the crowd, it was like a recording of a live show, small venue, you could hear the crowd. If anybody has it, it would unlock a 'white whale' for me personally.
This is the first song that I ever heard by them, which started my undying love for them!!!!
Great ❤
*Masterpiece.* My favorite version of this jewel of a song. Liz, the best female voice ever.
i had no idea the singer was from cocteau twins - oops
special
westfalen
mistrzostwo !
Thank you so much
This song makes me cry every time. It’s beautiful
